No Cost Law Enforcement Active Shooter Response Level 1 Training offered.

The Iowa State Fair Police Department, in cooperation with the Governor’s School Safety Bureau (GSSB) will be hosting an ALERRT Level 1 Active Shooter Response course. This course is a 2-day no cost Law Enforcement only training event.  The ALERRT Level 1 course is designed to be an entry-level course to prepare the first responder on how to respond to active shooter events that includes arrival on scene, breaching, hallway movements, threshold assessments and then the objectives of Stopping the killing, Stopping the dying and Mass casualty evacuation.  There is no prerequisite for this training. This training is vital to outfit all area Law Enforcement with the same common knowledge of basic entry for an active shooter event.

The course is limited to 24 students, this is to allow Officers the time to learn and demonstrate the skills learned during the training.

You must register for the class via the ALERRT website.  Go to the ALERRT.org website (click for link) then follow the below directions or open the attachment for more detailed instructions:

ALERRT implemented a 2-factor authentication process, hopefully you won’t have any issues, but I’ve attached directions that I received from ALERRT to set up the process.

1. Create or Login to your user account by clicking on the LOGIN Tab
2. Click on STUDENT WEBSITE > ONLINE REGISTRATION > you will then enter the course #24403
3. Once you have been approved, log onto your ALERRT student website, click on the course you just registered for and complete the pretest.

You will need your computer and or phone to access the internet to complete the post-test and course evaluation, so please ensure you bring one to class.

The course openings are first come first serve for registration.

We will send out another email as the dates get closer and provide more information relevant to the course and materials needed.

At the successful completion of the course each Officer will receive a certificate issued by ALERRT.
